What Is a Medication Review (MedsCheck)?
A Medication Review, also known as MedsCheck, is a private one-on-one consultation with our pharmacist where we:
- Review all your medications — prescription drugs, over-the-counter items, vitamins, and herbal supplements.
- Check for drug interactions, duplications, and side effects.
- Ensure your medications are safe, effective, and necessary for your condition.
- Make sure your medicines are safe, effective, and necessary.
- Provide you with a Personal Medication Record that you can share with your doctor
- Provide clear answers to your questions about dosage, timing, and side effects.
This service is part of the Ontario Ministry of Health’s MedsCheck program and follows Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP) standards.
Who Qualifies for a Free Medication Review?
You may be eligible if you are an Ontario resident and:
- Take three or more chronic prescription medications
- Live with a chronic condition such as diabetes, high blood pressure, or heart disease
- Recently had changes to your prescriptions
- Want to simplify your medication routine or better understand your treatment
- In addition, many patients book this service to avoid confusion, and as a result, they feel more in control of their health.
